Employees are expected to treat everyone with respect and to have a commitment to co-workers, program participants, customers, visitors and self.

Training

We can’t emphasize enough the importance of training and continuing education throughout an employee’s career at Circare! We have developed a Core Curriculum Training that employees are required to complete. We feel this training provides a foundation that will allow Circare employees to successfully provide the services needed in their work with program participants and to support that work. In addition to this Core Curriculum Training, employees have ample opportunities to take trainings in areas of interest that will improve their knowledge and skills needed in their work.

Technology

Our level of technology is top notch! During COVID-19, we were fortunate to be able to smoothly and successfully transition to a remote work environment for most positions. This level of technology allowed us to continue to provide quality client services during the pandemic and gave Circare staff the flexibility they needed to seamlessly transition to this new remote work environment. Employees also felt a level of security knowing they could continue to do their work during the pandemic.

How Circare Staff Stay Connected

Committees

The Cultural and Linguistic Competency Committee at Circare focuses on providing education and resources to our staff and encourage open conversation about cultural awareness, working to embrace the ever-changing cultural needs of our community to provide better support, equal access to quality health care, and health literacy to our Circare community. We aim to identify barriers in our community, educate staff, and determine solutions so that everyone has equal and equitable access to health care.

In the committee, we work to bring awareness of cultural diversity by inviting speakers to talk about various cultural and social issues. These speakers give our staff a better understanding of the unique aspects of their cultural or social group, and barriers faced in relation to health care and other social needs, with an emphasis on how we can support the people we serve.

Recently we hosted two speakers from SAGE Upstate to share information with staff about the LGBTQ communities and their barriers to health care.

The Cultural and Linguistic Competency Committee is open to all Circare employees and meets monthly.

The Events Planning Committee meets twice a month and is open to all Circare employees. The committee plans different types of fun staff events like Staff Day, picnics, bingo, trivia, etc. These events help to bring us together as a community to foster relationships with each other and create an atmosphere of fun, togetherness and family. Activities are planned both in person and virtually so that each employee has an opportunity to be a part of the event as a way to keep everyone at Circare connected.

The Events Planning Committee also organizes fundraising events within the agency to offset costs for staff events and to support various charities within our community that we often work with. Some of the fund-raising events we have held were Cinco De Mayo Taco Day, which included a festive taco bar. We have also encouraged team building activities, where department teams create a basket for a raffle to support the committee and a charity, as well as a holiday cookie exchange (yum!).

The Events Planning Committee also works in collaboration with the Cultural and Linguistic Competency Committee to coordinate events both within and outside of the agency.
